Juried into a SAQA Exhibit!

June 1, 2018

I am thrilled to announce that "ROSEMARY" has been juried into a SAQA Exhibit!

                 ROSEMARY - 25" H x 33.25 W

   SAQA (Studio Art Quilt Associates) REGIONAL Exhibit
Venue: HIGHFIELD HALL, 56 Highfield Drive, Falmouth, MA 02541

Date of Exhibition: Sept 8 - Oct 31, 2018

Artist reception will be held on Sunday, September 9, 2018 from 1-3

Exhibit Concept::

“Live in each season as it passes; breathe the air, drink the drink, taste the fruit, and resign yourself to the influence of the earth.” ― Henry David Thoreau, Walden

We spend our lives moving from building to building, often focused on our destination, overlooking the beauty of the natural world that surrounds us. This exhibit requires that artists step outside, literally, to observe this natural environment and then share the textures, colors and patterns as well as the emotions it evokes using fiber as the medium to communicate their vision.

Whether up close or wide angle vistas, representational or abstract, use your keenest observations and your most profound feelings as your starting point. Works considered for inclusion in this exhibit will be judged based on originality within parameters of theme, design, technique, and craftsmanship.

Artist Statement:There was no other place that Rosemary wanted to be than in her garden with her roses. She spent so much time with them that she became one with them - She marveled over their beauty, and fragrance, accepted their thorns, and mourned when their petals dropped. She loved when the wind blew their petals out into the universe, as she felt a part of herself was also being sent off on an adventure.

Techniques:Raw edge appliqué, machine free motion quilting on a domestic machine, painting

Materials:Cotton fabrics, acrylic paints, inktense pencils and batting

 Artist Reception at Highfield Hall & Gardens, Falmouth, MA  Sept. 9, 2018
