By definition A scroll is a roll of material like papyrus, parchment, or paper used for writing, and it can also refer to a decorative spiral shape or a baked pastry product. Historically, scrolls were used for long documents before the invention of the bound book. They can be a vertical format for displaying art, like calligraphy or paintings, meant to be viewed in its entirety, or long, narrow scrolls designed to be unrolled and viewed section by section on a table. They are used to display a series of scenes.
An Art Scroll is a decorative element, particularly in architecture, that mimics a rolled-up piece of paper. These can have different styles, like tight, loose, flat, or abstract.

This video shows one of my scrolls made from an old sweater, scraps from an old quilt, pieces of lace I cut from an old curtain, embroidery, beads and of course Buttons!
The below video shows a scroll created on muslin fabric using oil pastels, paint, vintage fabric, embroidery and beads
